The openers each did their own acoustic set, and I am used to seeing Doucette and Poppa Dawg with a band, so I thought the beginning was pretty boring. John Mayall has always been an awesome performer, and I enjoyed seeing him a second time. He had the same band minus the Japanese keyboard player. Everything about John was slightly older, his hair, his voice. He's in great shape for his age, and good on him for continuing to tour. I'm glad they played California and Parchman Farm this time, and while they played mostly the same songs, it wasn't the exact same setlist. I imagine John must like the Okanagan area for him to come here twice within a two year period. John was using a Yamaha electric piano and it must have been a rental or something, as he wasn't used to the presets. I enjoyed hearing the little Peter Gunn jam at the very end again.

Due to unforseeable circumstances, I had a large batch of really stinky stuff with me at this show. When I got to the doors to get in, they scanned my ticket, and then notified me that backpacks are no longer allowed in the theatre, and I will have to put it in coatcheck. I said, "Okay, I just have to go to the bathroom." I went into the far stall and put the bag up on top of the fluorescent lamp. You could see it up there if you looked, but who looks for anything but a free toilet? I got out my recorder and mics, but had no room in my pockets for the video camera I brought, so I left that in my backpack. I left the bathroom and handed over my back pack, and went into the theatre. Unfortunately the thought of someone walking away with it

A very nice FM Radio Broadcast in very good quality! Almost the full concert, "Digging The Grave" was omitted in this Broadcast, but there are 2 rare tracks ("Surprise! You're Dead!" & "I Started A Joke") that you can't find at "The Gentle Art Of Making Money" Silver CD.

According to the Original SetList, this show isn't complete, "Digging The Grave" was omitted as I said previously, and the files are not in correct order.

I received these FLAC files in a recent trade, so, all I know about lineage, source, venue and date were already informed.

Would be very nice if somebody could create a cool Artwork.

Another upbeat show with the band in good form but the audience behaving badly.
Ed speaks a few lyrics from the "broken faces" part of Stereolab's 'Noise of Carpet'
after the 'Daughter' improvs. (The Improv merging after 'Daughter' is apparently created
on the spot and references a sad letter to Ed from a young fan [Nino], with the "hey, hey, it's OK"
part having a comforting feel.) After a cranked 'RVM,' he says, "OK, in this hand is a fast song
and in this hand is a slower song," (prompting the crowd to pick). Then, "Since you couldn't decide,
let's put the two of them together," leading to 'I Got Shit' and 'Whipping.' A fan makes it on stage
during 'Alive' and sings a bit. The first encore begins with Ed talking about how the band decided
to enroll in a French class at the local university, but they kept coming up with excuses not to attend.
After a crack about Mike visiting the grave of his dead uncle, Jim Morrison, Mike plays a little riff,
prompting the band to go into a quite unexpected, short version of The Doors' 'Roadhouse Blues.' (Cool!)
He finishes the story saying that though they never made it to the French classes, he was able to find
time to write the next song, leading to 'Sometimes.'

Siamese Dream was recorded in Atlanta in the winter of '93, so some of the songs performed here are first timers. Interestingly, the versions are near identical renditions to the album, as the material is obviously quite fresh to them. Add the rare appearances of "HKK", "F&B" and James doing his best Dave Gahan impression for "I Feel You" and it's a fun time all the way through.
Video is quite good, once the folks around the taper settle in it's a great view of the stage. Killer set but unfortunate that "F&B" is cut just 20 seconds into the song. I filled in the audio with the AUD source and I did a quick-fill of video for that song. Basically it's a few cut up pieces in slow-mo crossfading once in a while. Better than a black screen or incomplete set. Also the very beginning of "Geek" is cut, I think the taper thought the banter would go on longer as they were switching guitars for that song. NBD though.
Transferred the same way as always, capped through my HD-cam and down-converted to DV, edited in Vegas and rendered in Main Concept MPG2 and Dolby Digital AC3. Sorry though, no 5.1, it's just stereo. I played with a bunch of different audio setups on this one and decided the straight stereo sounded the best to me. Audio was worked over, sounds ok, I think it's a little better than the straight audio, but not all that much. That's AUD's for ya.
Built a small menu for it, DVD begins with a title screen then the main menu appears, and song selections can be made from the track menu. Plus it has some nice soothing tunes and a built-in SP heart-shaped glitter lamp for your extra enjoyment.

Not much tape hiss, so I�m positive this is low gen. During The Real Thing and onwards the show gets a
bit louder (or taper moves or something) and we get a little distortion.

Good, aggressive show. Patton and Roddy try to encourage drunken Finnish people to take a swim in the sea.
The festival is held on a beach, that�s why.

Show highlights: Midlife Crisis has a nice profanity ending. During Easy Patton basically tells a "bootlegger"
to go fuck himself. I guess he saw our taper! Sometime during this show there was a can of home-made booze thrown
on stage and Patton pissed in it and threw it right back to the audience. My guess is that this also happens during
Easy since he keeps asking "what is it??".

The crowd number was estimated 15000. FNM was headlining.

I included a couple of photos from this show as seen on a Finnish magazine and on the official Ruisrock book. There was a writing by Puffy in the book and his quote in the end said: "Summer festivals are like 5 weeks of hard living crammed into one week end of vacation."

Mastered to clean the track transitions. Gave it a bit ballsier and clearer sound.

Carefully remastered to take out the DJ blabberings, taking none of the music away.
Most importantly fixed the issue of the original running at a slower speed, which caused
the music to be at a wrong pitch altogether.
Opened up the stereo sound a bit more and made everything more clear. One of the best
sounding FNM shows around, and a rare one too!

This was a JJJ FM radio broadcast at the time and taped on good equipment by me so it sounds pretty good despite sitting in a box for the last 15 years. Was inspired to transfer this tape after getting the Sheffield SBD of the Angel Dust tour from the Zomb tracker. This tour was really great.

Saw the show in Sydney on this tour and it was pretty good though this show seems a better performance. I do remember them coming out and doing a 'secret" encore when 80% of the audience had filed out with the house lights on of "Lets Lynch the Landlord". Unfortunately I didn't tape in Sydney. I have previously seeded an incomplete audience tape from this tour recorded in Wollongong as well.

Shame its not the whole show... I wish JJJ would release full shows from its archives as they did a really great job recording and mixing them unlike a lot of other FM stations.

What we have here is a wonderful early example of Thin Lizzy performing live to a very exhuberant crown at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, 1976. To be quite honest, I was never the biggest Thin Lizzy fan but I always wanted to have at least one solid show in terms of performance and sound quality in my collection. This is that recording and performance and I have to say that it has converted me into a much bigger fan of the group! While the performance is spectacular and the recording is soundboard sourced, it's not perfect by a long shot. The source of this recording from which the text file below originates, claimed it to be an A+ soundboard. Of course everybody has a different idea of what an A+ soundboard should sound like and grading differs from person to person. Personally, an A+ soundboard is the top of the mark and should be absolutely perfect soundboard quality. What you have here is not that. The source recording, while well balanced and fairly clear, was actually quite muddy sounding with a very boomy low end, even an abundance of low end for Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott's bass sound. This is evidence of a transfer from a 2nd, 3rd maybe even 4th generation source, and very possibly from a cassette tape given that there is a substantial amount of high end loss. In order to remedy this problem, I made some fairly significant adjustments to the frequency spectrum, mostly attenuating specific noisy ranges in the low to low-mid register. From about 80 to 700 Hz, I attended the signal level at an average of about 3 to 3.5 dB. 1.5 to 2.5 Khz was attenuated about 2.5 to 2.7 dB and 5 to 11 Khz was boosted approximately 3 to 4 dB. This was only done after multiple trial and error procedurs to find the right balance of sound. I hope what results is a better sounding recording to the fans that find this remaster. I have also included artwork for this recording as I couldn't seem to find anything else available. I apologize for a couple of the images included which aren't exactly the right era but I tried my best, not a lot of live shots of Thin Lizzy available online that I could locate. I did manage to find a scan of a ticket stub from the show on the 16th, just the day after so I included that as well as a newsprint write-up on the performance.
